Dr. Kolbe grew up traveling the world with her foreign service family but always viewed the DC area as her home base. She attended undergrad at the University of Oklahoma where she majored in classics and gender studies. Her interests in LGBTQ+ health and community advocacy propelled her into medical training which included a post-baccalaureate program at Johns Hopkins University and medical school at Brown University. She fell in love with pediatrics and went on to complete residency training at Vanderbilt University.
As a pediatrician, she is especially interested in newborn care, breastfeeding, adolescent medicine, and mental health. She values evidence-based medicine, open dialogue, continuity, and shared decision-making in her relationships with families. She has completed her certification in mental healthcare through the REACH Institute.
