Dr. Arnold grew up in California and received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at San Diego. She received her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Georgetown University Hospital.
She has raised 4 children and is now enjoying her 5 grandchildren. She lives in Alexandria, Virginia and has been married to Reid Adler for 30 years. They share their home with a little pug named Camillo and several cats. Dr. Arnold loves to garden and quilt. She is very interested in behavior issues and teenagers.
Dr. Russell attended Princeton University where he received a B.A. in English and went on to the State University of New York at Binghamton for a master’s degree in English as well. He worked for a short time as an English professor before going to medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then completed his pediatric residency at Georgetown University Hospital. He has 2 adult children and lives in Alexandria with his wife Lynn.
Dr. Russell has been listed as a top pediatrician in Northern Virginia Magazine since 2013. His clinical interests include asthma treatment and education. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, photography, and bird watching.
Dr. Shen grew up locally in Gaithersburg, MD and received her undergraduate degree in materials science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before deciding to switch gears and attend medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She received the J. Edmund Bradley Award for Excellence in Pediatrics as a medical student and completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children affiliated with Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Shen lives in Alexandria, VA with her 16-year-old daughter and has a son who is a sophomore in college. She has sung with the Cathedral Choral Society as a second soprano since 1997 and has been a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels since 2006. She also enjoys traveling, going to art museums and musical theater productions, and volunteering at her church.
Dr. Hulver is originally from Buffalo, NY. She earned her B.A. in psychology from George Washington University in 2000 graduating magna cum laude. She received her M.D. from the University of Buffalo and then went to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, R.I. affiliated with Brown University for her pediatric residency. She received her board certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2007 and joined The Kidz Docs that same year. She has been a member of the AAP in excellent standing.
Dr. Hulver is especially interested in childhood behavior, parenting concerns, anxiety, feeding disorders, and growth. She also enjoys teen counseling and well visits. She lives in Oakton, VA with her extended family, their cat, Brabo, and their new black labrador puppy. She enjoys reading, Pilates, cooking and crafting.
Dr. Remus is originally from Michigan. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric training at Thomas Jefferson University and DuPont Hospital for Children and joined The Kidz Docs in 2009. Emily enjoys spending time outdoors, playing music, cheering on the Fighting Irish, and spending time with family and friends. She volunteers in her church and neighborhood communities. She lives in Arlington, VA with her husband and two young children.
Dr. Livingood grew up in the mountains of North Carolina but fell in love with the DC metro area after attending Georgetown University for her undergraduate degree. She stayed in DC receiving her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Livingood completed her pediatric training at The Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee. She then continued to work at Vanderbilt after residency where she was an assistant professor in the pediatric emergency department.
Dr. Livingood's special interests in medicine include nutrition and obesity. Arlington, VA is now home to Dr. Livingood, her husband, and two children. When she isn’t treating patients, she likes to travel, bake, and enjoy time with family and friends.
Dr. Ferrer graduated Summa Cum Laude from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and attended medical school at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. She then completed her Pediatric Residency through Authority Health in Detroit, MI, serving as Chief Resident in her last year.
Dr. Ferrer strongly favors team decision-making and involving parents/guardians in the plan of care. She is also a strong believer in patient and parent education – providing valuable resources for reinforcement when available.
Dr. Ferrer was born in San Diego, CA but considers Virginia her home. She speaks English and Tagalog. She loves to travel, enjoys spending time with family, and likes scrapbooking. She lives with her husband and beautiful daughter.
Kathleen is a native Texan who has lived more than 20 years of her life overseas. After earning her BSN from the University of Texas, she married an Army officer and served mostly military families in their medical centers as a pediatric intensive care nurse/pediatric clinic nurse. Upon returning to the D.C. area, Kathleen trained to become a pediatric nurse practitioner through Catholic University and has worked in private practice ever since.
Kathleen speaks French and Spanish and loves caring for our international families. She has special interests in developmental delays, asthma, newborns, and breastfeeding.
Kathleen loves to read, hike, bike and share travel adventures with her family. She lives in Alexandria with her husband of 33 years, her golden retriever Salado and kitty Brazos. She has three grown children.
