Dr. Shen grew up locally in Gaithersburg, MD and received her undergraduate degree in materials science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before deciding to switch gears and attend medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She received the J. Edmund Bradley Award for Excellence in Pediatrics as a medical student and completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children affiliated with Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
Cindy lives in Alexandria, VA with her 16 year old son and 12 year old daughter. She has been a second soprano with the Cathedral Choral Society since 1997 and has been a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels since 2006. She also enjoys playing piano, going to art museums and musical theater productions, and volunteering at her church.
